Starting next week, between the three jobs, I will be working an average of 70-75 hours per week. Is it weird to be excited?...

So far, I have heard 4 songs from the upcoming Coldplay album. I am in love with one, I strongly like 1, and the other 2 I am very ehhhh (X&Y reaction) about. But really. The one I love…I love. It reminds me of how I felt when I first heard The Scientist. I remember when I was working at Rolling Stone and my boss asked me to compile a list of new mostly unknown bands in the US....

Birthday. 23 hours. 27. Feels odd to say. Probably the looming 30 more than anything. Feeling ridiculously mature in some ways, as if I’ve lived at least 5 lives already. Feeling sadly immature in other ways, as if my growth is permanently stunted. Don’t feel like explaining what fits into what.

I genuinely admire people who have been badly burned in past relationships yet they’re able to still be open and optimistic to dating/love/commitment/marriage/forever with someone. They’re better beings than me. I can’t do it.

Also. I enjoy listening to sports radio while falling asleep at night. Yes, I’m really a 65 year old white haired man. Whatever. There are two commercials that are played incessantly on my sports radio station. The first is a McGruff ad for children being bullied in school. Remember McGruff? I haven’t heard from him since I was in 2nd grade and a demonstrator had his hand up...

There were a few (great) surprises today. 2 jobs + internship (in pr!!!!!)= me being (crazy) ambitious. But I’m excited. On a completely unrelated note, I hate how I can’t tell the difference between a sinus infection (with severe draining) and strep throat. You know, until my throat feels like it’s been sewn shut and it hurts to even think about swallowing.

May is my favorite month of the year, with October as a close second. Besides my birthday, May also brings the promise of warmer weather, adorable dresses, cute sandals, beautiful sunsets that don’t happen until 8:30 or later, flowers in full bloom, and yes, my birthday. My little brother turned 16 yesterday. His reaction was surprising. Apparently, he wanted to stay 15. This confuses me,...

Two things. First. Just because you share DNA with a person doesn’t mean you know everything about them. And certainly doesn’t give your absentee ass the right to judge them. Second. Been reading Sylvia Plath’s compilation of journals. Words cannnot accurately express how much I love this quote: “Character is fate.”

I don’t mind rain. In fact, it’s pretty soothing to hear while falling asleep. However, thunder can go to hell. Especially thunder that is so loud and violent that it shakes the house and wakes me up. Another day, another gripe.

I don’t decide that it’s spring based on what the calendar says. I decide it’s spring when I can’t stop sneezing and breathing normally through my nose requires effort. Yup, it’s spring all right. With all of the stress I’ve been under in the last month or so, it totally slipped my mind that something fabulous is coming up. I’m seeing Radiohead (for...
